Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) is the main airport that services the Tempe region. However, if you are unable to find a flight to PHX that works for your schedule, you can always look for flights that land at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport (AZA) instead. This is a smaller travel hub that is located around a 30min drive from downtown Tempe.
There are a few different airlines that use Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) as its primary hub, including American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and US Airways. Because of this, you will find that many flights that arrive at PHX are serviced either fully or partially by one of these companies.
If you plan on renting a car once you have arrived in Tempe, you can always do so directly from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX). The airport has a rental car center that is located at 1805 E. Sky Harbor Circle South and contains offices for agencies such as Alamo, Enterprise, and National. Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport (AZA) also has a rental car center, which is in the Arrivals Terminal.
